Avril Kidd

EQ Expert

EQ matters because because it impacts everything we say and do, our decision making, our reaction to stress and how we take ownership for our impact on others.

About

Avril Kidd is wife, mother and Bachelor of Science and Industrial Psychology graduate with 20 years experience in the corporate industry. I held several Directorships and senior management positions and subsequently opened an EQ consulting practice, EQ in Action. As a preferred partner of Six Seconds in South Africa, I work with corporate teams, individuals and schools throughout South Africa.

Through public workshops, in-house training, teambuilding, coaching and guest speaking, I am not only committed to growing the emotional intelligence of the individuals in this multicultural country, but also supporting Six Seconds to increase the number of Certified Practitioners in Africa. I am qualified as a Six Seconds EQ Practitioner, SEI Assessor for adults and children and Vital Signs Assessor.

Youth Versions are also available for some of these assessments.

Coaching & Mentoring

Coaching enables people to grow at their own pace and to tackle their personal challenges in a safe and confidential environment. My recommendation for the coachee is to always start with an EQ self-assessment psychometric. Coaching can be done face-to-face or via Skype. Sessions ideally range from 45 minutes to an hour long.

Train the Trainer

As a Six Seconds Preferred Partner, I run regular EQ certifications for people who want to become certified in the various Six Seconds programmes. At least once a year an international trainer will also be available to support this process.

Guest Speaking

Guest speaking can be tailor-made to client’s request ranging from the classroom to corporate boardrooms. Topics range from general emotional intelligence to specific topics such as increasing optimism, emotional hijacking where one understands freeze, flee or fight syndrome. The average duration is 45 minutes to an hour.

Consulting

I start by understanding the factors that drive performance, the organizational and individual needs as well as the strengths and challenges of the team. My focus is on the people side and how to increase engagement, motivation and productivity. My methods are practical, interactive and action based.

Parenting

I start by understanding the needs of the individual. I use the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence psychometrics.

Emphasis is given to strengths and these are used to address individual challenges. A safe and fun environment is created where individuals feel heard and supported and a relationship of trust is established. Practical tools are given to support any required change.

Many parents gain a lot of value from attending my public EQ workshops.

Children & Teens

For children and teens I offer the SEI-YV (Social Emotional Intelligence Assesment -Youth Version) and Brain Style assessments. A parent’s perceptive assessment can also be done for children under the age of 10.
